Footfalls & Heartbeats (UK) Limited (FHL) is a technology-focused micro SME specialising in the development of proprietary technology for the rapidly expanding field of smart textiles. FHL’s sensor platforms can be used in healthcare, elite and consumer sports, and transport applications. The company has built its USP on “the textile is the sensor” and works with large global companies to customise their textile sensing systems specific to their client’s needs.

Position Overview

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and effective leader to take Footfalls through its next stage of growth. As CEO you will be responsible for overseeing both strategic and day to day goals at Footfalls. These will involve interaction with all parts of the Footfalls team as well as client facing discussions regarding the current and future applications of the technology.

Duties

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Form relationships with all existing key partners, investors and customers for the business
• Provide inspirational vision and strong leadership to all FHL activities but with specific focus on business development and commercial licensing
• Work with the board and investors to shape the business in the best possible way for future inward investment
• Ensure good, open communications are established and maintained at all times
• Develop formal and informal communications at all levels of sales, service and operations
• Network to the highest effect internally and within the industry

Key Accountabilities will include:

• Business development
• Revenue growth
• Commercial licensing
• P&L management, budgeting and forecasting
• Team management, development and performance improvement
• Build a team across the business able to take it forward in the new ownership environment
• Product delivery
• Be seen as the strategic leader and project genuine credibility both within the business and within the marketplace
• Ensure the business achieves and implements quality standards
• Identify and negotiate commercial contracts and IP licence agreements
• Fundraising and investor management and founder relationships
• Attract new business opportunities
• Fulfil all legal duties associated with a CEO position

Skills and Qualifications

• Demonstrable track record of attracting and developing new business opportunities
• Proven track record in commercial negotiation and sales and IP licence agreements
• Experience of lobbying and influencing policy makers
• Proven fundraising abilities
• Strong negotiation skills • Experience in understanding complex commercial contracts.
• Three years’ leadership experience as CEO or at a senior level
• Proven ability to motivate, develop, delegate and lead a team
• Experience of business management including managing budgets and cashflow
• Proven track record of managing diverse projects or a diverse organisation
• Experience of the complete product life cycle from development to volume production
• Ability to establish excellent working relationships with board and chairman
• Experience of achieving and implementing quality standards
