Midlands Innovation TALENT Programme’s Placement Scheme is Expanding

Electronics Engineer Works with Robot, Soldering Wires and Circuits. Computer Science Research Laboratory with Specialists Working.

MICRA is very pleased to hear that our Midlands Innovation sister project MI TALENT is further developing and scaling up its placement scheme.

MI TALENT is a major Research England funded project, with significant additional investment by industry and third sector bodies. It works across the eight research intensive universities in the Midlands Innovation consortium to research and support the development of the over 2,000 technicians that the institutions employ.

The placement scheme is a key component of the work that MI Talent is doing. It seeks to broaden the basis of skills, experience and contacts amongst the region’s university technical staff by offering them to shadow and experience work in a different organisation and job role. This seeks to build participant’s knowledge of different areas of technical practice and their connections with staff working in technical disciplines at other institutions and in fields outside their usual area of practice.

If you are a Midlands Innovation university (see full list of institutions here) staff member employed as a technician, or if you are employed in another kind of role but work with technical staff who might want to participate, please have a look at the leaflet for the scheme here. This includes full details of how you can express interest in participating and apply.
