Previsico’s nationwide forecasts accurately map out flood devastation.
In the last couple of weeks, about 400 homes have been flooded and 1,200 properties evacuated. Hundreds of people in Fishlake, near Doncaster, have fled their homes after their village was submerged.
Previsico are working tirelessly to deliver alerts to the Cabinet Office, through the ResilienceDirect platform. As these warnings are delivered, emergency services will benefit from real-time insight of street level flooding up to 48 hours in advance.
Jonathon Jackson, chief executive at Previsico, said: “The current spate of catastrophic flooding in the UK, particularly in the north, supports the timely need for Previsico going live nationwide, following successful pilots in four UK cities.
“We are now working tirelessly with our early-stage stakeholders, including the Cabinet Office, Met Office and Environment Agency to deliver live, actionable property-level flood nowcast and forecast warnings.”
Luana Avagliano, Head of ResilienceDirect at Cabinet Office said “this is ground-breaking work that will immensely assist our resilience community in making informed decisions for planning and response to flood events and impact” .
