At MICRA’s partner institutions, academic innovation and entrepreneurship doesn’t just stem from scientific and technical subjects. Social scientists and researchers in arts and humanities disciplines also contribute to driving university led innovation in the region.
A prime example of this is provided by SDG Mapping a new consultancy at MICRA partner the University of Leicester. MICRA has supported the establishment of this group which is led by Prof. Jeremy Levesley and comprises part of Leicester’s commitment to its research having social impact. It works to use the academic expertise available at the University of Leicester to help “map and analyse the contribution publications from [academic institutions] have made towards progress on the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
To date, SDG Mapping has worked with researchers from institutions including the University of Edinburgh and the London School of Economics, and its highly refined tracking and analytic processes enable the production of easy to understand charts and tables which benchmark client’s research outputs within the field as a whole.
