TextureJet.

Simple, clean surface preparation of components.

Texture Jet is delivering a tooling platform with a world leading capability to selectively change the surface texture of components resulting in streamlined production lines. The company spun out from the University of Nottingham in 2019.

Technology & Products.

Texture Jet’s Surface Texture Adjustment Technology (STAT) allows for precise preparation of surface textures in situ, without imparting damage to the material or utilising harmful chemicals. This removes the need for alternative approaches, which may require masking, sand blasting or etching. The technology is the subject of an initial UK priority patent application filed in May 2019.

The Market.

Texture Jet’s STAT is applicable across a range of applications. The company are currently targeting high value manufacturing opportunities in the aerospace and automotive sectors. One aerospace opportunity is the aircraft engine sector worth $92 bn per annum where STAT could replace acid etching. In the automotive sector where composite materials are increasingly significant, Texture Jet could replace grit blasting in pre-bonding surface preparation. the versatility of STAT will allow use in any indication where precise surface preparation is required.

Business Model.

Texture Jet is developing STAT as a universal platform that can then be modified to customer requirements. Initial demonstration contracts have been obtained. Once users are convinced of the performance of STAT, Texture Jet will partner with tool developers to deliver devices to customers.

Fundraising to july 2020.

The company has currently raised an initial £60 000 from the University of Nottingham to leverage a large Innovate UK grant. The company is soon to embark on a fundraising round of approximately £500k.
